Info/Program note:
Three movements for 31-tone microtonal ensemble. The work consists of one long, self-replicating melody in three parts, which is reiterated three times in a nearly literal form. Each section of the piece explores a different register, based on different combinations of the same basic overtone mode and subtracts or adds values to the initial line; thereby expanding or shrinking in its overall duration. As its material the piece takes a basic overtone series on Bb - running from the fundamental up to about the 27th overtone, with various chromatic alterations and changing pivot points - and translates this back to the tuning of the 31-tone scale as devised by Anthony Fokker.
