Altijd, Al (Always, All) consists of a collection of six short, uninterrupted pieces for eight voices. The text is a catalogue of all possible mono- and bi-syllabic Dutch words pertaining to Time and Quantity which begin on the letter A(l). With a certain randomness the words have been conjoined into phrases of 3, 4 and 8 syllables, which are then re-combined with each other in the subsequent sections. With the exception of suggestions of Time and Quantity, the text however has no implicit meaning.

After their initial exposition, the six parts are combined in the following – more-or-less symmetrical – order:
